Father: There is so much that we value; our hearts are set on security and status, on convenience and comfort, on respect, wealth, possessions, and power, on relationships, knowing and being known, and having our wants fulfilled.  

In our desires, we confess that we often lose sight of Christ, who is our greatest good and the anchor of our hope.   

Christ is the highest and most precious value for sinners: fully God, and fully man, he took upon himself your infinite judgment and rose from the dead on the third day so that we may rest in the assurance of Hebrews 7:25 that He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. 

Because of his saving work, Christ is of priceless value to those who believe. When guilt weighs heavily on us, we find priceless rest in the truth that Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 

When our faith is weak, assurance fails, and we despair, we rejoice in the inestimable value of Christ’s assurance that My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 

In every present trial or the prospect of difficulties to come, we hold to the value of Christ in Romans 8:38-39, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. 

In the joys of life, we prize Christ. In him, you richly supply us with all things to enjoy, and we exult that in Christ we are reconciled to you and have peace through the blood of his cross. 

And as we look to the future, we rejoice that to live is Christ, and to die is gain, and we have the hope and comfort of the truth in 1 Thessalonians 4 that the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.    

All our hope is in Jesus, and we glory in what the cross has done, Father. In our adoration and worship now and our lives this week, we ask that you would draw our eyes to Christ that we might daily proclaim Christ’s unsurpassable value. Amen
