Elder's Prayer

Our sovereign Father,

We do rejoice that you are King. You sovereignly rule and reign over all things. Every galaxy, every star, every planet, every nation, every earthly ruler, every person, every heart, every molecule, every atom, all belong to you, all bend to accomplish your sovereign will. Comfort us with this truth. Comfort us with the truth that you are in the heavens doing whatever pleases you, nothing can thwart your will. Help us to submit to and be comforted, encouraged, emboldened by the truth that you are the potter, we are the clay, all of us are the work of your hands.

While enduring trials and hardships, help us to rejoice in the fact that from your mouth come both good and ill. Help us to say with the Psalmist, “before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your Word. It is good for me that I was afflicted that I may learn your statutes, your judgments are righteous and in faithfulness you have afflicted me.” Help us to rejoice even in your sovereignty over trials, sufferings, hardships, persecution, because we know that you are refining our faith in the fires of trials so that our faith will endure to the end.

You are the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the ruler of every nation turning the hearts of even wicked kings to accomplish your purposes. We look forward with eagerness, hope, and faith to the coming of your earthly kingdom when Jesus returns and conquers and rules over all the earth, the whole earth will be full of the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of your great name.

Rom. 11:33-36 - Oh, the depth of the riches both of your wisdom and knowledge! How unsearchable are Your judgments and unfathomable Your ways! 34 For WHO HAS KNOWN your mind OR WHO BECAME your COUNSELOR? 35 Or WHO HAS FIRST GIVEN TO you THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN? 36 For from You and through You and to You are all things. To You be the glory forever. Amen.
