Elder's Prayer

Lord - we give thanks this morning when we hear the testimony of your transforming work in Rebekah’s life and her desire to obey and follow you. As we are reminded from the hymn she quoted-In Christ we live, because in our place he died. All of us were once far off from you, but we have been brought near to you by the blood of Christ. Our righteousness is Jesus’ life-our debt was paid by his death. The weary load we attempt to bear can be borne only by him in whom we find rest for our souls. Father-help Rebekah-help all of us to walk in the light, because Christ is the light and as we do, may we have fellowship with one another-cleansed of our sin by Jesus’ blood. May we be quick to repent of our sins and quick to forgive others when they sin against us as your word calls us to do. May we be kind to one another, tender-hearted-forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave us. Help us to be imitators of you, Lord. May we walk in love, as your beloved children-as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to you. Through him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to you; that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge your name. We come before you today, giving thanks for the new life we have in Christ, in whose holy name we pray - Amen
