Lord, we praise You for Your creation and sovereign rule over all things. You made the heaven and the earth and everything in them. You made the sun to rule over the day and the moon to rule over the night.
You made man from the dust of the earth, You made man a little lower than the angels and You crowned him with glory and majesty, You made him to rule over the works of Your hands and put all things under his feet.
You did all of this, in Your kindness, Yet man sinned against You and Your sovereign rule. Man turned his back on You and loved sin more that You.
In spite of all of that, because of Your great love and for Your glory, You provided a way for him to be restored to You, through sending a Savior who could do what we could not, You sent Your very own Son, Jesus.
We, like our fathers before us, are sinners in need of the Savior You have sent so many years ago. We confess that we have fallen short of Your desire for us. We confess that we do not deserve Your love and grace.
We are humbled that You, in Your holiness, would have anything at all to do with us. As Your word says in Psalm 8, “what is man that You remember him, and the son of man that You care for him?”
Because of Your great mercy on us in spite of our weakness and sin, we praise Your holy name. Please minister to our frail hearts this morning as we seek to worship You.
In Jesus’ name we pray - Amen
