Father we are living amidst great uncertainty.  Some in this room are uncertain about their jobs.  Some in this room are uncertain about their financial affairs.  Some are uncertain about their vocational or educational direction.  Some are uncertain about medical diagnosis, upcoming procedures or outcomes .  Some are uncertain regarding upcoming separation from family.   Some are uncertain how to have difficult conversations with family members or friends.  Some are uncertain regarding their spiritual state.   

Yet, In the midst of our collective uncertainty, we need to remember truth about your unchanging nature and your faithfulness.  Father, I pray you would anchor our uncertain and unstable souls in your truth. 

God we know you are still sovereign.  You are in heaven and you do what is good.  You rule over all.  Your purposes will be established, and you will work everything in accordance with the purpose of your will.  Your power is unrivaled, you are supreme, and are completely unfettered in your power to act.  May we find comfort in rehearsing this unchanging truth. Assured that evil will not triumph and your good plans will be fulfilled for your glory. 

Father, kindly remind us that Christ is still reigning and will reign until all your enemies are under your feet – including the last enemy you will abolish being death.  Christ has been raised from the dead and He will return.  As Christ reigns in heaven at Your right hand, He is  reigning over the church by your word and Spirit.  Christ is reigning as Sustainer by His providence.  He is upholding all things by the word of His power.  Father, help us to see Christ as King and that particular truth would comfort our restless and uncertain souls. 

In the same way, Father remind us the Spirit also helps our weakness for when we don’t know how to pray, the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.  And He even intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.  Father we need this.  We are often distracted in our prayers.  We are weak.  We are riddled with unbelief.  We are burdened by being inarticulate.  We are lazy and undisciplined.  Nevertheless, the Spirit is still interceding on our behalf.  Thank you gracious father for your helper who will express our heart’s longings perfectly to you our heavenly Father. 

Father encourage us by knowing the church is still growing. scripture is still teaching and the gospel is still saving.  You will build your church and nothing will thwart your efforts.  Your inspired word is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness so that every person who follows Christ may be adequate and equipped for every good work.  Your word equips the saints for the work of the ministry for the building up the body of Christ.  Your gospel is the power for salvation for everyone who will repent and believe.  May we find comfort in this reality and never be ashamed of this gospel truth.

Father, despite our uncertain times and our wavering faith, we know your Glory is still coming and we know your promises will endure until the end.  Help us persevere despite our weakness and please forgive our unbelief.  You are good and you are faithful.  We praise you.  We honor you.  We love you.
