Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Our Most Holy and gracious Father, full of mercy, love, kindness and also justice, who is sovereign over all things and ordains the path of every creature, who dwells not only in heaven, but in every space throughout all of creation. May your name be eternally revered as holy throughout the universe. May devils tremble at the very mention of your name.

We pray that your kingdom would be established throughout the earth and we praise you that your will is being done here as it is in heaven.

We look forward to the day that every knee will bow and every tongue confess that your Son, Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory and honor of your name.

We thank you for graciously and lovingly giving us our daily bread, for giving us shelter and clothing. Your Word says that as you clothe the grass of the field, how much more will you cloth us.

Gracious Lord, please forgive us of our sins, for the ways in which we have so arrogantly decided that we know better than you, that we know what is good for us more than you do, for pushing you aside and seeking our own pleasure.

We confess these things to you and ask that you would cleanse us from all unrighteousness and make our way straight.

And Lord, please help us to forgive those that sin against us, as you have forgiven us. Forgive us for times when we allow a root of bitterness to grow up and take hold against our brother or sister, help us to deal with that quickly and decisively and be reunited with them.

Please bring us through the various temptations we face in a manner that is glorifying and honoring to you. Let these temptations only serve to strengthen our faith, resolve and confidence in you. And in all of the temptations we face, please deliver us from that evil that is always close at hand, deliver us from the one that would love to see us fall, that would love to see your name discredited.

We love you Lord and thank you for your unmerited grace and mercy in our lives.

In Christ's name we pray.
