Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

You are eternal. You created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. You have power and authority and majesty over all things.

You are the God who does not change, the God who lasts forever. What you say will come to pass and nothing and no one can prevent your word from accomplishing all that you desire. You keep the promises you make.

Your word tells us that you promised to send a son. A son through whom all things were made. A son who is the exact representation of your nature. A son whose throne would last forever.

This son that was made a little lower than the angels for a while, you have crowned with glory and honor. This son who took on human form, you appointed over all of your creation. This son who shared our griefs, you have put judgment in his hands.

It is in this son that we have placed our faith to save. It is this son who bore our sins, this son who paid the ransom for our sin, this son in whom we put our trust.

Thank you for the hope you give us through your son’s birth. Thank you for the hope of salvation that comes through the life and death of your son for us. Thank you for the hope of eternity that you give us through our union by faith with this son.

Thank you for keeping your promise to give us the hope of your son, this wonderful counselor, this mighty god, this prince of peace, this Immanuel – your son, Jesus Christ.

Amen.
