Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Psalm 62:5-8

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him.

He only is my rock and salvation and my glory; my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

O God, may we have no other thing, no other “god” that we trust in, that we hope in, may it always be in You and You alone.

Help us Lord to wait in silent confidence when we call out to You, help us to trust that You hear our prayer and our cries for help. That You will indeed answer us, in your perfect timing and in a way that brings You glory and us good. Help us to trust that you are our fortress, our strong tower, the Rock that our salvation is based on. The Rock that we can stand on and not be shaken.

You alone are the source of our salvation, You are indeed our refuge. You are the One we can count on for help, that we can run to for protection and that we can rest in and be refreshed.

Help us to trust in You, in Your mercy and kindness always. Help us to trust in You when we face seemingly impossible challenges, relentless fears and wearisome worries…remind us that You love us with an unconditional love, that we can pour out our hearts to You.

Remind us that You have opened Your arms to us because of the work of Your Son, Jesus. The One whom You have sent to live, die and rise again on our behalf, and that as we trust in Him and His finished work, we might someday live with You in eternity.

In Jesus’ name we pray….
