Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.
Thank you, Father, for the privilege of being Your child. Thank you for the relationship you have given us with Yourself. The fact that You are holy, yet, still love us in our imperfection and sin is testimony to Your awesomeness. We pray that this would inspire in us an overwhelming sense of reverence and admiration.
By bringing us to Yourself in a life-giving, saving relationship, we no longer have to fear Your wrath and judgement. Though we deserve to be condemned and destroyed because of our rebellion and sin against You, You have chosen to love, care and protect us, not because of anything at all that we could bring to You, but, simply because it was Your good pleasure to do so.
Lord, our flesh is weak and we are frail, we fail You so often in so many ways, please help us to daily remember our sins and bring them to You for forgiveness, knowing that as Your word tells us in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”…
This, as well, is testimony to your awesomeness…
Lord, help us not to fear the evil that still abounds in our world and seems to increase daily. Help us know and trust that You will keep us to the end, that You will bring us safely home.
As Your word says in this book we will begin to study today, that one day, our Savior, Jesus, will destroy the Lawless One with simply the breath of His mouth…
In light of that confident hope and sure future reality, help us to stand firm… and daily give You thanks for Your Spirit that dwells in us and daily leads and guides us in our sanctification.
This, as well, is testimony to Your awesomeness….
In Jesus’ name we pray…
