Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Lord, we give thanks once again as we are privileged to hear the testimony of our Your providence, grace and mercy in Alek’s life.

As we hear Alek’s testimony, may it bring to mind Your goodness, grace and mercy in each of our lives.

You delivered us from sin and raised us to walk in the newness of life with Christ.

And each time we celebrate the ordinance of baptism we are reminded of the apostle Paul’s words in Romans 6 when he tells us that:

We have been buried with Christ through baptism into death,

And that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,

6(and) we know this-that our old self was crucified with Him, so that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he who has died is freed from sin.

But, even though we are no longer slaves to sin, the presence of sin remains in our earthly lives.

Father-help us to fight sin together-to walk beside one another through the trials and joys of this life-and to do so with compassion and patience for one another.

Always walking by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ-in whose name we pray-Amen.
