Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

(Psalm 103:10-14)

Father-you promise to all those who bow before you, that we will find rest for our souls-for that we give thanks to You this morning.

You are our assurance-our Holy Comforter-our only hope.

We give thanks that you have not dealt with us according to our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

For those who fear you, Your lovingkindness is as high as the heavens above the earth.

When we wander, you bring us back-you drive away the dark that seeks to overtake us.

You care compassionately for us, as a Father does for His children.

You show us mercy each day and are gracious towards us-you are slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.

You love us relentlessly-you bear our sins, our guilt, our doubt.

Help us to remember that for each sin we commit, we need to take ten looks at the Cross.

Because it is there you have reconciled us for all time-our sins are forgiven-we need no longer fear.

Lord, we pray also this morning for those who don’t have this assurance, that they would humble themselves before you.

That they too would know your compassion, your love, your mercy.

It is in you alone that we find peace-in you alone is the grace we all so desperately need-Thank you, Lord this morning and every day-In Jesus’ name we pray.
