Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Psalm 24:1-10
1 The earth is the LORD's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein,
2 for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.
3 Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.
5 He will receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob: “He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”
7 Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle!
9 Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah

And Lord, you are our glorious King! The leader of the hosts of heaven, strong and mighty, self-existent, eternally holy, and redeeming of us your creation. We are yours, for you created us, then you bought us out of our waywardness, our depravity…. Bind our wandering hearts to you, tune our hearts to sing your praise, make us humble recipients of your righteousness that we might, in turn, be humble recipients of your blessing.

Father, there are those in our assembly this morning who are rejoicing - we are grateful for the recent birth of Kallan Mickelson and ask that you would continue to give him health, and Anthony and Crystal wisdom and patience as they are now tasked and entrusted with raising an addition to their family.

For those in our congregation who are hurting, we ask that you would give peace, encouragement, patience, and healing. Especially we pray for Gary Tormanen as his immune system repairs that you would give him health, regeneration of his bone marrow, and encouragement, that his faith in you would be strengthened. We are grateful for the success of the surgery for Ann Sisson, and ask that you would increase her strength daily as she recovers and that she would be spiritually refreshed as well. For others in our congregation who have lost jobs, lost loved ones, lost health, that they would count as gain your salvation, that they would count as gain the fellowship of the saints that surround them here in love. And make us each discerning of the needs of other brothers and sisters in Christ, and humble to submit to each other in loving service and care, for your glory alone.

Make us servants of yourself. Make us as you are, set apart for your purpose, and effective imitators of Jesus Christ, and proclaimers of your holiness and your gracious salvation.

Amen
