Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Ps 103:8-14

Father God, thank you for giving us your word as it tells us what you are like. It tells of your kindness and love toward us.

Your word tells us in Psalm 103…

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.

He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;

As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord show compassion to those who fear him.

For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

We are so thankful for your mercy and grace. Help us to never under estimate or take your mercy and grace for granted

The fact that you are slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love should humble us as you have every right to blot us out from the face of the earth, we have no defense for our sin, but, have great joy in knowing that you have brought the way of salvation to us, through your Son

For those that trust in your Son, the way of salvation you have provided, you do not deal with us according to our sin, nor repay us according to our iniquities, you see us robed in the righteousness of Christ

Our transgressions are cast far away and you show compassion to us as your children, to those who fear you. You know us well, as you are the one who made us, you know we are weak and that we are but dust.

For this we praise your Holy name.

In Christ’s name we pray…
