Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

This morning I’ll be looking to Lamentations 3:22 & 23 as the basis for my prayer this morning.

“the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end;
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.”

Lord, we come to You at the beginning of this new year with confidence in You.

Confidence in the fact that Your love is steadfast, it never stops, it never leaves Your children.

We don’t have to fear that You won’t love us, we don’t have to worry that You will abandon us, in spite of how unlovable we are, because we are indeed sinful and unlovable.

We are thankful that You see us through the work of Christ.

We are also, so thankful that Your mercies never come to an end.

We could never deserve Your mercies and we are humbled by the fact that You, being perfectly holy, would have anything to do with us, much less, show us abundant mercy.

Lord, this past year has been difficult for many of us, many familiar things in our lives have changed.

Many things we have relied upon in our lives have changed, let those changes cause us to look to You for our help and the fact that Your faithfulness and love are the only things we can truly rely upon.

as we face this new year, not knowing what it will bring, it is brings such comfort and relief to know that You never change.

That Your love and mercy are new every morning, they are fresh every day.

Great is Your faithfulness.
