Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Father of glory,

We praise you and thank you for choosing to redeem these unworthy servants of yours before the foundation of this world.

Thank you, Son of God, for forgiving our sins and for the gift of righteousness.

God, our Father, please bless us with a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Please may our eyes be enlightened, that we may know and understand the hope of our calling from you, of the riches of your glory and of your inheritance in these unworthy servants of yours.

Please help us to even remotely comprehend what is the surpassing greatness of your power toward us who believe. Thank you that the same power that raised Christ Jesus from the dead and helped Him ascend to heaven to be seated at your right hand is at work within us.

We praise you Lord Jesus Christ for you are seated far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

We praise you that all things have been subjected under your feet.

We praise you that you are the head of the Church and that in you the fullness of God is pleased to dwell.

Please, Father, we desire to be strengthened with power through your Holy Spirit in our inner man so that Christ Jesus may dwell in our hearts through faith and that we might be rooted and grounded in love.

Please help us to comprehend the breadth and length and height and depth of the love of Christ Jesus which surpasses knowledge.

May we as Summit Woods Baptist Church be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Please protect us from becoming lukewarm, ever. May we never lose our first love for you. Please help us to be faithful until death, that we may receive from you the crown of life. Please, Father, on judgment day, may we be found blameless and beyond reproach in Christ Jesus.

Please help us to walk in a manner worthy of our calling in humility, gentleness, and patience.

I pray for our student ministry as they get ready for this year’s Discipleship-Now retreat, next weekend. Please prepare the students hearts and minds to receive your holy word. And I plead that your word would yield fruit 100-fold in their lives. I pray for all the ministry leaders, host families, volunteers, and guest speaker. May their ministry not be in vain.

Prayer for the sick in our midst.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever.

Amen.
