Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Psalm 95 - Thanksgiving

Father, we come before you this day singing songs of joy,
We sing Your praises and shout joyfully to You-the rock of our salvation.

We come before your presence with thanksgiving, because you have called us out of darkness and into your glorious light

You broke into our strife with your boundless love and endless joy

You alone have the power to redeem and forgive us of our sins and you did so through the life, death and resurrection of your only Son

Only you can provide the redemption we so desperately need-and that is because all the earth is Yours-every molecule and you alone rule over it

In Your hands are the depths of the earth,
The peaks of the mountains are also Yours.

You made the sea-You formed the dry land. Those are indeed wonderous things

And because they are, we too often we find ourselves tempted to worship Your creation rather than You.

All things created by you are indeed good and not to be rejected, but too often we find ourselves worshipping created things rather than You, the one who created them and alone are worthy of our worship

We ask that you help us, this and every day, to be reminded of that especially as we enter this Christmas season.

The giving and receiving of gifts is good, but it is You, the Creator of those gifts that is alone worthy of our praise

Therefore, As the psalmist says, let us worship and bow down before You O Lord
For You are our God, and we are the people of Your pasture and the sheep of Your hand.
And for that we give thanks, today and every day, in the name of your precious Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ
