Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Father as we gather today to celebrate the birth of our Savior, we give thanks to you for your plan of redemption made necessary by our rebellion against you

As Your Word tells us, when the fullness of the time came, You sent Your Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that You might redeem those who were under the Law

Your Law was given through Moses, but grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

We can have confidence in Him, because, though He was born as a man we know that Jesus, the incarnate Word was also there in the beginning, He was the Word who was with God-the Word was God.

And, as we just sang, He was born to raise us, the sons of earth, He was born to give us second birth- a new life in Him-so that God and sinners may be reconciled

It was at His birth when the eternal Word became flesh and dwelt among us-to save us-

the foolish, the disobedient, the deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our lives in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,

You saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to Your mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom You poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life-that is what we celebrate today and every day

We give thanks today, because there could be no greater gift than that

Thank You, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.
