Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Father, we rejoice this day as we hear yet another testimony of your mercy in granting repentance to a sinner.

A sinner not unlike each of us before coming to know you as Lord and Savior

A sinner who, by your grace, came to see her own pride and self-focus and humbled herself before you in faith and repentance

In Madelin’s testimony we are reminded that your offer of mercy is to everyone who recognizes that you alone are the answer for the sin that is weighing them down

In salvation, you willingly take the burden of sin that none of us can bear-and when we surrender it to you, we find rest for our souls

When we take your yoke upon us, we discover that you are gentle and lowly in heart

As the author of Hebrews tells us, it is you who sets the race before us and it is you alone who enables us to endure it when we look to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith

When we struggle, as we certainly will, as Madelin reminded us, we can call to mind the words of the prophet Jeremiah and have hope because your steadfast love never ceases, and your mercies never come to an end and are new every morning.

Your faithfulness is indeed great and for that may we be eternally grateful.

We give thanks this day and every in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ

Amen.
